Career Vision (Global) Ltd worked with us to create a bespoke development programme – ‘Developing Yourself and Others’. This was to address feedback we had received from staff surveys and morale discussions. The programme was primarily about raising the standards in our group around performance management and included a focus on individuals recognising their own behaviours and its impact on others. Carole created a professional but friendly environment and engaged participants in becoming more self aware about themselves and reflect on what development they may need to undertake to enhance their approach to performance management and performance more generally. This one-day session has helped our Directorate work towards establishing a model of best practice for performance management by setting standards which, irrespective of grade, we all own and have responsibility for delivering and monitoring against. We are evaluating with Career Vision (Global) Ltd., what steps we now take as a follow on to this programme.

I had the pleasure of working with Carole when she developed and facilitated awareness sessions and a suite of skills modules to support the implementation of a new performance management process.  The awareness sessions were rolled out to over 2000 members of DH employees over a 12-month period.  Personnel ranged from the most junior civil servant to Permanent Secretary Level.

Carole has invaluable people skills, which created an atmosphere that made staff feel at ease and encouraged individuals to discuss openly.  This enabled them to focus on their development needs and helped prepare a development plan to assist in improving performance.

Carole Elam worked with us over a two-year period when we moved our financial functions into a central Finance Shared Service Centre.  Carole’s operational experience in setting up Shared Service Centres in a world wide arena was invaluable to us during this transition period.

Her ability to view the ‘big picture’ and apply attention to detail was highlighted in how she managed the production and delivery of the organisation, transitional and cultural change plan to support the implementation.

Carole supported the Trade Union Consultation activities around mapping of personnel to specific roles, the move to a new work location and redeployment of personnel.

She never underestimated how much complacency and fear exists when employees are taken out of their comfort zone.  Carole provided coaching support in employee areas throughout the change process and for a period of time after the initial set up of the centre.

To enhance the cultural shift, she designed and facilitated a core set of soft skill learning modules, which included employee induction, team building, problem solving, and customer service.
